Accessibility statement

We want everyone to be able to shop with us comfortably: with a mouse, keyboard or finger, with a screen reader (a program that reads the screen aloud) or with greatly enlarged text. On this page we explain how our online shop is structured, which accessibility requirements apply to it, how far we meet them and how you can reach us if you encounter a barrier.

What this statement covers

This statement applies to our online shop www.leonardo-carbone.com in all language versions (German, English, French, Italian, Spanish). The provider is Leonardo Carbone GmbH & Co. KG, Gwinnerstr. 38a, 60388 Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

Our online shop

We offer clothing for medieval, Viking and LARP fans: garments for women, men and children, shoes, cloaks, belts and accessories. We sell to private customers and to resellers. You can find items via the menu or the search, choose colour and size, add items to your wish list, order and pay. You can also create a customer account and subscribe to our newsletter.

How the shop is structured

  • Header: logo (leads to the home page), search, "Service & Help", sign-in, wish list and basket. Below it, the main menu with the categories. On narrow screens, the menu opens via the button with three lines at the top left.
  • Skip links: When you press the Tab key for the first time on a page, "Skip to main content", "Skip to search" and "Skip to navigation" appear. They take you directly to the respective place.
  • Footer: Contact, Service (Payment and dispatch, Return & Refunds, Size guide, Care Tips) and legal information (Imprint, Terms & Conditions, Privacy Notice, Right of Withdrawal and this statement).
  • "Accessibility" button: a round dark button showing a figure. On a computer you will find it at the bottom right; on a smartphone, at the bottom right of the slide-out menu. More on this below.

How to order

  1. Open an item via the menu or the search.
  2. On the item page, choose colour and size and add the item to your basket.
  3. Check the items and quantities in your basket and go to the checkout.
  4. Sign in, order as a guest or create a customer account. Enter your billing and delivery address.
  5. Choose the shipping method and the payment method. You can choose prepayment by bank transfer, credit card, Amazon Pay, PayPal (which also offers credit card, direct debit, pay later, instalments and Google Pay) and Klarna (instant bank transfer, direct debit, credit card, invoice and instalments). Public authorities and institutions can also pay us directly on invoice.
  6. Check the summary and send your order. You will receive a confirmation by email.

We explain returns and withdrawal on the page "Return & Refunds"; you can withdraw from a contract via "Withdraw contract" in the footer.

Which requirements apply

Our shop is aimed at consumers. The German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG) and its implementing ordinance (BFSGV) apply to it, for online shops especially sections 12, 13 and 19 of the ordinance. Both implement EU Directive 2019/882 on the accessibility requirements for products and services.

As our benchmark we use the European standard EN 301 549, version 3.2.1. For websites, it refers to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA. Put simply, content must be perceivable, operable and understandable and must work with assistive technologies. For example, text must stand out sufficiently from the background, everything must be usable without a mouse, images need a text description and form fields need a label.

How far we meet the requirements

Our shop is partially compliant with these requirements. Much of it works. Barriers may exist in content from other providers and in areas we have not yet tested specifically. We describe both openly here.

What works

On the pages we tested (see "How this statement was prepared"):

  • You can find items, choose colour and size, add them to the basket, enter your details at the checkout and choose shipping and payment up to the summary before you submit the order, all using only the keyboard.
  • Whatever you have selected with the keyboard is marked with a clear dark frame with a light edge. The fixed header and the cookie notice do not cover it.
  • Sign-in, wish list, basket and search in the header are buttons with names that screen readers read out.
  • The menu on smartphones, the list of all categories, the sign-in and the basket that opens after you add an item appear as a separate window. The keyboard stays inside it; the Escape key closes it and takes you back to where you opened it. The submenus of the main menu also open with the keyboard.
  • For colour and size, screen readers announce which attribute is meant. The selection list also opens with the Enter or space key, and after you have selected, the keyboard is back in the same place.
  • Error messages in forms are linked to the field concerned and are read out. After submitting, the keyboard jumps to the first field with an error.
  • Text and links in our colours stand out sufficiently from the background.
  • Item images and the category tiles on the home page have a text description. Every page is structured with headings and regions that screen readers recognise.
  • The pages can be enlarged up to 400 percent and adapt to narrow screens without you having to scroll sideways.
  • On your first visit, the cookie notice is the first thing you reach with the keyboard.
  • Images on the home page do not change by themselves; you decide when to move on.

Known barriers

On the pages we tested, we currently know of no barriers in our own content. If you notice one, please let us know (see "Report a barrier"). We will update this statement as soon as anything changes.

Content from other providers

Some parts come from other providers: the payment pages of PayPal, Klarna, Amazon Pay and Mollie (credit card), the reviews from Trusted Shops and the Google Maps map on the "Contact" page. The map can only be used to a limited extent with screen readers; our address is also given there as text. We have only limited influence on the accessibility of these parts. Selecting the payment method in our checkout is designed to be accessible. If you get stuck in one of these parts, we will be glad to help (see "Report a barrier").

Areas not yet tested

We have tested the central pages of the shopping process. We have not yet specifically tested the customer account (order overview, addresses), the area for resellers, the language versions other than German, downloadable documents and videos. Barriers may exist there too.

The "Accessibility" button

The round button with the figure opens a menu in which you can adapt the display to your needs: font size, line and letter spacing, easy-to-read fonts, contrast and colours, highlighted links and headings, a reading aid, paused animations and more. If your device has a voice in the language of the page, the menu can also read texts aloud; for this we only use voices that run on your device.

Your settings are only stored in your browser and apply on all pages until you reset them. The menu does not send any data to other providers. It does not replace assistive technologies such as screen readers or screen magnifiers; the improvements described above also apply without the menu.

How this statement was prepared

We prepared this statement on 28 October 2026. It is based on a self-assessment carried out from 25 to 28 October 2026: an automated test with the tool axe-core against WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 (levels A and AA), operation using only the keyboard, display on a smartphone and on a computer, and magnification to 200 and 400 percent. We tested the home page, a category, an item with colour and size selection, the basket, the checkout as a guest up to the order summary, the sign-in, the "Contact" page and this page. No external testing body was involved.

Status of this statement: 28 October 2026
