About Jeannine & Sebastian

Tell us something about yourselves

We are a creative duo from Switzerland who have been doing fantasy and medieval photoshoots with great passion for almost three years. Through our page @steel_blood_and_love, we travel through time photographically – from historical reenactments to fantasy and even wasteland themes. What began as a shared hobby has become a heartfelt project that means the world to us.

Where are you from and where do you currently live?

We live in Thun, in the beautiful Bernese Oberland in Switzerland.

How would you describe yourselves in a few words?

Creative, spontaneous, and warm-hearted.

What fascinates you about the world of the Middle Ages / Viking Age?

When we used to think of Vikings, we imagined fearless warriors with horned helmets and fur cloaks – the image Hollywood has given us. But they were also sailors and traders. The more we immersed ourselves in their world, the more fascinated we became. Watching series like Vikings and The Last Kingdom completely drew us in. Even though these series aren’t historically accurate, they still have a captivating atmosphere. With the Viking theme came our interest in Norse mythology.

Over time, we became more interested in authentic clothing. We even started sewing our own garments, and Jeannine taught herself the craft of tablet weaving. She is especially fascinated by Viking craftsmanship – the delicate patterns, materials, and techniques they used. This creative engagement has deepened our connection to Viking culture even further.

Do you have a favorite character or setting that you like to immerse yourselves in?

In the beginning, we often portrayed warriors – with axes, swords, or bows. That was great fun, and we loved the power of those battle scenes. But since the birth of our son Björn, things have changed. While we still find the warrior side of Viking life exciting, we now feel more drawn to family-oriented scenes – everyday life, community, craftsmanship, and kinship. Those moments touch our hearts on a much deeper level.

How did you first hear about Leonardo Carbone?

The very first medieval dress Jeannine ever bought at a market was from Leonardo Carbone. So, our first real connection to the medieval scene is directly tied to this brand. When Leonardo Carbone reached out to us in 2020 to become Brand Ambassadors, we didn’t have to think twice – it just felt right.

What do you particularly like about Leonardo Carbone’s clothing and style?

What convinces us most is the quality – and how comfortable the clothing is. From simple tunics to hand-embroidered dresses, there’s something for everyone. The pieces can easily be mixed and matched, creating countless new looks. We also appreciate the wide range of sizes – everyone can find something that fits, no matter their shape or height.

What is your favorite Leonardo Carbone outfit?

How could we ever choose just one? We have many favorites!

What does it mean to you to be Leonardo Carbone Ambassadors?

Leonardo Carbone has been part of our reenactment journey from the very beginning – that’s why it feels so right to now represent the brand as Ambassadors. We appreciate not only the clothing but also the values behind it: authenticity, craftsmanship, and a passion for history. It’s a joy to share that enthusiasm with others and pass it on.

Is there anything personal or special you would like to share with our community?

Take your time to find your own path into historical reenactment. Whether you’re drawn to simple everyday life or elaborate garments – everything has its place. For us, it’s more than just a hobby: it’s a journey to ourselves, to history, and to community. And that’s what we wish for you too – that you find something that moves you, inspires you, and simply feels right.
